Seeking the Shalom of Our City through Prayer

On Sunday, June 22, the Senior Center will be closed for repairs, so we won’t be meeting there as usual. Instead, we’re taking this opportunity to go out into our city and pray—not in one place, but in many.

We’ll be praying over five key areas of life in our city, each in a different location:

  • Culture & Commerce

  • Elected Officials & City Issues

  • College Students & Faculty

  • Children, Families, & Neighborhoods

  • Those In Need, At Risk, or Unhoused

Each group will have:

  • A location to gather

  • A designated leader

  • A set of prayer prompts to guide your time

To make sure each area is well-covered, we’re asking everyone to sign up in advance. Each group has a limited number of spots so we can spread out evenly across the city.

Thus says Yahweh of hosts, the God of Israel, to all the exiles whom I have deported from Jerusalem to Babylon, “Build houses and live in them, and plant gardens and eat their fruit. Take wives and father sons and daughters, and take for your sons wives, and give your daughters to men that they may bear sons and daughters, and multiply there, and you must not be few. And seek the shalom of the city where I have deported you, and pray on behalf of it to Yahweh, for in its shalom you will have shalom.”
